Welcome to the Landing Page for Confirmation 2025-2026!
Preparation for this Sacrament begins with the family, which serves as the "domestic church." The family home is where children first learn about God and witness the lived example of their parents who serve as the primary teachers of the Catholic faith.
In the Diocese of Rochester, those beginning their 8th grade year of education are eligible to take the next step in their faith journey, by pursuing the Sacrament of Confirmation.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is one of the sacraments of initiation.
Those Confirmed are strengthened in their faith, and commissioned to proclaim the Good News (Gospel) selflessly and courageously.
Sealed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the Confirmed are empowered to live lives worthy of their Baptismal calling.

With Regard to Sponsors
Sponsors for the Sacrament of Confirmation serve vital roles in the candidate for Confirmation's journey towards the sacrament and beyond.
Sponsors have the unique responsibility and privilege of guiding and mentoring their candidate towards a deeper relationship with the Lord. This is only possible due to the sponsor's ongoing commitment to living and practicing the faith of the Church through consistent Mass attendance and the continued pursuit of conformity to the life of Christ.
With regard to the requirements of being a sponsor, the Diocese of Rochester says, “To take on the function of sponsor, a person must have the aptitude and intention of fulfilling this function and must have competed the sixteenth year of age unless the pastor or minister has granted an exception for a just cause. The sponsor/godparent should be a fully initiated Catholic (having received Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) who leads a life of faith, is not bound by any canonical penalty, and is not the father or mother of the one to be confirmed.” Sponsors who are not members of the parish should provide a letter from their pastor attesting to their suitability to serve as sponsor.” (Policies for the Administration of the Sacraments, Bishop Salvatore Matano, #3.4).
If you have been asked to serve as a Confirmation Sponsor, please contact Tyler Davis at [email protected]
